This blog is a discovery journey in which I integrate the different elements of my life.

This blog is for you if …

… you are a tech person working on or interested in AI,

… you are a scientist or engineer concerned by the disconnection between your work and your private life,

you are familiar with the term “meaning crisis” and want to learn about AI in a language that you understand.

What you will get

You will see AI through the lens of meaning. I am writing about:

  1. What are the principles of getting value into AI?

  2. How does AI interact with our values?

  3. How can AI acquire meaning?

  4. How can AI discover its own values?

  5. Where does AI fit into John Vervaeke’s meta-cognition framework?

  6. Where do I see the AI world heading to, and where do I think it should go?

  7. Why is this important at all?

You will accompany me on my journey towards a unified soul, body, and mind.

I am writing about my spiritual experiences and my embodiment practices. This may be a surprising thing from a senior AI researcher. In our dualist mind, science and spirituality, body and mind, feelings and thoughts, are separated.

My working hypothesis is that these topics are connected:

Integrating meaning into AI requires the same move as integrating myself, the scientist, into my own scientific world.

My intention is deeply genuine and human. I have a sharply trained engineering brain, highly capable of building and manipulating structures. From another perspective, I have been feeling fragmented, and this blog is part of my slow unification.

This is an ongoing journey and I do not know where I will end up. I invite you to come with me, so that I do not feel alone. Experimenting, asking foundational questions, discovering new territories always bring vulnerability and fear. I am willing to uncover my soft spots, and by this act, I am stepping into a new position, hoping that this very act will lead to unification.

I will be the scientist who does not know yet, but who is also willing to make himself the central subject of the discovery journey.

Your interactions, your feedback, your “yes, and…” comments are deeply valuable for me. I would also like to explore the landscape of other souls, understand what you know and where and why you find your interests. This blog is meant to be a dialogue between me and my readers, You personally.
